CHAPTER II
CONSTITUTION OF THE HUMAN BEING
Based in the study of Cosmogenese, chapter of the Theosophy that treats of the origins of the Universe and that will be developed in the chapter XI, it is verified that a phase exists in which the Universe becomes more dense and space starts preparing the possibilities for the man's emergence, which is the objective of the Creation.
Along that phase, through cyclical stages, called phase of the life energy, there goes organizing the human being's vehicles, from the subtlest to the densest - the mental body, the emotional body, the vital body and the physical body. Through those bodies, acts the Superior Conscience that, in the theosophic conception, is of Divine nature, is a particle of the Divinity.
Thinkers confirm this idea:
Thomas Carlyle (1.795 1.881), historian and English critic, left registered the following: Our being's essence, the mystery in us that calls ME, is a breath of the Sky; the Almighty reveals himself in the man. This body, these faculties, our life, is nothing more than a garment for the Unnamed. There just exists a temple in the Universe and that is the man's body.
In synthesis, the function of each body would be:
- The body is support for the activities in the physical plan.
- The vital is the energetic body, through where circulate cosmic energies and that are responsible for the physical life.
- The emotional is the body through which the man feels, receives incentives and makes perceptions.
- The mental, through which the man thinks, interprets, ratiocinates and, in their higher levels, he foreknows and he KNOWS truly. The nervous system establishes connection among the body, the part of which we have conscience, and the subtlest bodies, being the brain just a bridge.
- These bodies are topped by the Superior Conscience that has the possibilities of the Eternal.
Therefore, the man brings God inside of himself.
We only have conscious perception of the physical body and of the physical world that is around us, because our Conscience is focused inside of this delimitation of the Universe and our senses are only impressed by the matter that is inside of a certain density range, inside of a certain limit of vibratory frequency.
The medicine knows the physical well, but the man is not so perfectly known in the aspects physiologic, psychological and pathological. The physiology, for instance, didn't still unmask the true function of the glands and of the hormones and, much less, it explains the mystery of the heart beats and of pulsing of the lungs. Even inside of the psychology, that is the chapter that tries to analyze the most subjective part, the conclusions of most of the specialists are still reached through the neurological reactions and through the behavior, because that can be verified. Several lines of the psychology, though, begin penetrating the man's transcendental aspect. The followers of this way of thinking are still the minority because the transcendent is very difficult, or else impossible of framing inside of the demands of the science, once they cannot be demonstrated, they cannot be explained in a rational, logical way. The verification of those subjective phenomena, demands an internal condition that goes on appearing while the man develops, while the man starts getting in touch with data about his own constitution and by noticing his position inside of the Universe. For the time being, we only work with facts that are governed by the laws that go on being discovered by the science, although the origins of those laws still stay a great unknown.
The medical science, with all his undeniable progress, doesn't get to explain the origin of the life. The man, when dying, is a group of cells, but what does lack so that he lives?
The science still didn't answer to that question done by Aristotle: "How is it that the soul links to the body?". The participants of a symposium accomplished in the United States, being present neurologists, physiologists, theologians, finished their works still perplexed without finding the way by which the man's abstract faculties link to the physical body, and the science will never answer this inquiry, unless it accepts the man's Theosophic constitution, second which each body has a specific function.
The science only accepts that which is perceived by the senses. It happens that, inside of this technological era, we that are living on this century, we could accompany the immense extension of our own senses. We passed, through apparels, to notice universal realities, today scientifically proven, but that, if they were affirmed at the time when we just counted with the perception of our senses, they would seem hallucinating placements or, at least, mystics, metaphysical.
The atomic discoveries prove that this world is not exactly as we see it. The matter, for instance, is discontinuous, and constituted by electromagnetic fields, however, we see it compact, due to the speed of the particles that constitute it.
The Theosophy affirms that the other bodies - the vital, the emotional, and the mental - they are located in subtler plans. As well as this physical world is constituted by matter in several density states, resultant of the fact that their molecules join in a different way, we would not flee from the scientific thought putting the hypothesis that other states of the matter still exist not perceptible to the man's senses, even enlarged by the technology.
The science doesn't have more doubt about the existence of a kind of matter different from the known states. With the disintegration of the atom, with the laser beams, the science has come across particles that don't behave in agreement with the laws already known.
We can already say that the science identifies four states of the matter - solid, liquid, gaseous and ethereal, also denominated electromagnetic.
Christiaan Huygens (1.629 1.695), physicist, mathematician and Dutch astronomer, at his time, already affirmed: "As the light crosses the vacuum, the only exit is to admit the existence of a hypothetical substance, the ether, a transparent way that permeates the whole Universe."
The state ethereal has been considered and mentioned with other names, since millennia. The Cabalists already conceived a divine essence, of ethereal nature, transparent, that would permeate and would animate whatever exists, to which they gave the generic name of Anima Mundi. That same conception appears in Buddhism with the name of Alaya. For the Westerner, though, it only began to be considered in the last century, at that time of the inventions radio-electrics. When, through two completely separate points, without any visible connection, we got to establish a communication, there was not alternative except admitting the existence of some present conductive element in the space. Otherwise, the process would be out of the logic. To that agent it was given the name of ether, name that had already been used in the Occident by the medieval alchemists.
More recently, among others, they mentioned that fundamental Substance of the Universe:
Paracelso (1.493 - 1.526), Doctor Swiss-German, great wise person, affirmed: "The Microcosms complete is contained, potentially, in Liquor Vitae."
B. W. Richardson (1879-1959): "I use the word ether in its generic sense to refer to a very light, steamy or gaseous matter; I use it with the same sense used by the astronomers when they speak about the ether of the Space, referring to a material middle in spite of subtle"
In the Secret Doctrine Vol. II P. 210, H.P.B. mentions Stallo: "The demands of the theory atomic-mechanic took considered mathematical and physicals to try a substitution to the atomic concept of the matter for peculiar forms of movement in vortexes inside of an universal, homogeneous material middle, not compressive and continuous, in other words, without interruption - the ether."
On the page 250, H.P.B. says the following: "There are two elements in the Universe; one is the perceptible matter, which can be measured, another is the ether that penetrates everything. It lacks color, weight, forms and substance; it is so subtle that only the word ether can express it; it fills the space."
Let us review quickly our physics knowledge about the densities of the matter.
Since Demócrito, 400 years before Christ, that the man thinks to have arrived to the minimum limit of the matter, to smallest particle, not reduced to fragments, so that it received the name of atom. The radical Greek "tom" means to cut; the prefix "a" expresses a denial, therefore, atom expressed the idea of indivisible.
Descartes, in 1.625, therefore 300 years before the discovery of the electrons, deduced that, besides the atoms, a very smaller particle should exist.
Ernest Rutherford (1.871 1.937), Lord English, great physicist, in 1.911, presented an atom model similar to the solar system, with the electrons rotating around the proton.
As larger the load of the electron, motivated by the increase of the speed of the orbit, more he tends to stand back of the nucleus. When that depart arrives to a limit, that may put in danger the maintenance of the system, a new electron appears with capacity of generating the necessary load to maintain the connection with the nucleus. In the same way, when the proton doesn't get to balance the load of the electrons, other proton appears.
While the atom went progressing in terms of containing larger and higher energy loads, and the orbit paths consequently were turning faster, the states of the matter began differentiating. As larger the orbit speed, larger the generated energy force, and it goes on provoking larger inertia of the molecules.
In the presence of the fantastic discoveries inside of the physics field in general and, particularly, of the nuclear physics, which started to notice particles and behaviors of the matter that were not adjusted to the already silted up knowledge, entering in a world totally new, it only remains to agree with the Theosophy when it affirms that there exists states of the matter still subtler than the ethereal, not perceptible to our current senses. States in which the energy groupings that constitute the matter, they would behave in such a way that escapes to the perception of our physical structure.
Nowadays, the science already cogitates regarding the vital body, inclusive it begins to be great interest relatively to the Russian couple's experiences, Kirlian - Semyon and Valentina - technicians in electronics and that got to photograph the radiations that emanate from the body. They got pictures taken through the incidence of an electric field of high frequency - 75 thousand to 200 thousand cycles a second - on the object to be photographed. That phenomenon still continues in study but everything indicates, according to the own scientists' conclusion, that it is related to the energy of the life, to the occultists' vital aura, because the same leaf, for instance, photographed in the first day after being turned off the tree, when it presents a great shine that goes on decreasing, discoloring while the leaf starts dying.
Effect Kirlian - Discovered by chance in 1.939, by a Russian electro technical. It is the form of photographing, or to determine the luminescent irradiations that all of the bodies emit and that are invisible to the common eye. It is a process optic or photographic that shows a world until then invisible of irradiations, flames capricious, fine, colored, shiny that emerges from all of the lively and inanimate bodies when submitted to the action of an electric field of high frequency and high tension. In the exercise of his function, that was the one of making repairs in the electronic facilities, he was at the institute of medical researches of the city of Krasnodar, south of Russia. While he waited, he observed a patient that was being submitted to treatment of electrotherapy of high frequency. It was when he noticed that, of the space between the electrode and the patient\'s skin, there set off beautiful luminous irradiations. He built an apparel - used a photographic foil between his finger and the metal electrodes, in the field of high frequency, but soon he had to stop with the experiences because the war came. We already have also a chapter that goes on stabilizing, the one of Bioenergetics, of Bio-psycho-energetic, led by Lívio Vinardi and that is trying to do an analogical study among that which is of the domain of the science and that which has been detected by extrasensory way, relatively to the energy processes that are verified in the physical body and in turn of it. Bioenergetics affirms that the traffic of the messages by the nervous system are of electric nature -with 0,1 volt- that forms an electromagnetic field that is the vital body, detected by Semyon Kirlian. In density terms, it would be the fourth state of the matter.
Bio-psycho-energetic - is the science that is in charge of the study of the energies bio psychological trying to know her nature, her origin and the effects that they produce, as well as her interrelation with all other type of energies, is natural or generated. Natural energies are radiations solar, astral, lunar, vegetable energy, mineral etc. Generated energies are the mechanics, acoustics, electric, magnetic, chemical energies, nuclear radiations etc. The Bio-psycho-energetic tries to investigate the functional causes that ground the interaction between the human energetic and all of the external energies. Relatively to the human being, according to Lívio Vinardi, the Bio-psycho-energetic considers him as a unity biological, psychic, energetic, spiritual, and ties him with the nature and the cosmoses.
The Acupuncture, Oriental medicine today recognized and made official by the Western medicine, manipulates those energies of the vital body with the end of getting the balance of the physical organism and it is getting extremely satisfactory results. In 1.953, Mikhail Kuzmich Gackin, surgeon of Leningrado, juxtaposed pictures Kirlian to the acupuncture points and it confirmed that they coincide perfectly.
The Homeopathy, when refers to the potentization of the medicines, it is also dealing with those energies that circulate in our body through the called meridians, that correspond to a system of circulation of energy, comparable to the sanguine circulatory system.
For maintenance of the integrity of the several bodies they get to remove matter from the corresponding cosmic plans.
